Copenhagen is short of student housing, and the pressure will only increase as more and more students come to the city in the future. The Nordbro tower and seven neighbouring high-rise blocks contain 700 quality homes for students and visiting academics, along with a grocery store, small commercial premises and a café in Nørrebro, Copenhagen
The whole complex is based around a continuous ground floor space, which contains entrances to the residential blocks, parking and shop units with access from Borgmestervangen. The individual tower blocks contain 11 student flats on each floor. A few flats have been left out to make room for shared roof terraces. Common areas and a community centre with a reading room are placed strategically within the building to provide for social life. From the 1st floor there is access to the large shared courtyard garden.
The tower has become a feature of the Copenhagen skyline. It is an identifying marker for the student housing complex and the surrounding area around Mimersparken and Nørrebro Station, with Copenhagen’s highest public viewing platform on the 30th floor.
